MASTERVOLT E-DRIVE
Consideration for the environment is something that Pearson Marine Group is no stranger to. Whether it was our involvement in the wind blade business and hybrid vehicle industry in the early 90’s or development of the styrene-reducing SCRIMP technology 15 years ago, it’s always been at the core of who we are. Electric propulsion is not a new idea; submarines and small vessels have utilized this technology for decades. However, the utilization of a brushless motor and lithium polymer batteries in a 33’ sailboat is new. Our partnership with MasterVolt Industries allowed us to launch the first sailboat in the US with their new “e” propulsion system. Not only is this system completely void of any need for maintenance, it also regenerates its batteries while under sail. Unlike so many environmentally conscious products, this concept is not “Green” for the sake of being “Green”. The system has a very desirable and marketable trait; the ability to continue the mystical silence of sailing after the sails are down.
Pearson Marine Group is no stranger to the process of bringing a system such as this from concept to reality. Having the best engineers and designers in the industry coupled with a culture of innovation and leadership allows for an exciting project like this to come to life.
SCRIMP TECHNOLOGY
Pearson was the first company to introduce fiberglass construction to production boat manufacturing in the 1960s. With the introduction of its patented SCRIMP process in the early 1990s, Pearson launched a vacuum sealed resin infusion technology that resulted in fiberglass boats that are lighter, yet structurally stronger, while at the same time being endorsed by the EPA as a preferred method of manufacturing boats because of its environmentally friendly attributes.
TRUE NORTH STERN HATCH
The opening transom on the True North line of boats is more than an award winning innovation. This concept and other creative features are the gateway to all things that are fun on the water. The heart and soul of the True North line of power boats is quite simple; how we arrived there is another story.
When several boat builders were rushing into the market place with their version of “dock jewelry” in the late 90’s we took a step back and realized that there was something missing in this rush of low-function, expensive-looking vessels. Very simply, we knew there was an opportunity to design a boat with stunning, modern New England-styling that would allow boaters to easily interact with the body of water they love the most. After, several focus groups and hundreds of interviews with the right people, we knew that we were on to something. The result was a 38’, single engine power boat with stunning good looks and a simple, elegant, useful layout. Most boat builders start with the boat and add a swim platform. We did just the opposite. We also made room for Dinghies and kayaks in the cockpit and on the Cabin top. The open, galley up floor plan lets the outside in when you want it, inspiring an experience on the water that boaters crave. Some called it “genius”, or the “perfect boat”, we called the True North 38 Smart Luxury.
Since, the inception of the True North brand a decade ago we have grown to a family of over 160 owners. Like all great ideas, there have been several earnest imitators of this concept. This is something we’re used to as the True North line is not the only “first” development we’ve had at Pearson Marine Group.
HOYT JIB BOOM COLLABORATION
The Development of the Hoyt Jib Boom in conjunction with Garry Hoyt was one of several innovations that enabled Pearson Marine Group to create the modern gentleman’s daysailer market. Until 7 years ago Alerion Express was the only brand in this space. We quietly sold 100’s of Alerion Express 28’s and 20’s based on the concept of “Alerion Sailing”. “Alerion Sailing” amounts to sailing on terms and at times that best suit your mood, your schedule, and the weather. This selectivity is quite different from traditional racing or cruising, both of which impose extensive commitments of time and crew for scheduled happenings where personal comfort and convenience are not a primary factor. To qualify as an “Alerion Sailer” the boat must begin with significant beauty and compliment that with single handed ease and scintillating speed under sail. Meeting these exacting criteria is exactly what the Alerion line of boats accomplishes and others do not. Alerion continues to lead in unit sales in this space with countless imitators watching our every move.
With over 600 happy customers, and 5 innovative Alerion models, this brand continues to grow despite the competition and current economic malaise. Our consistent focus on our serving our customers and listening to their dreams and desires is what allows Pearson Marine Group to have this kind of success.
